Lola's Obituary

Lola Bird, age 100, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 7:30 a.m. at Randolph County Care Center, Sparta, IL.

Lola was born on June 25, 1918 in Pinckneyville, IL, a daughter to Charles C. and Mollie (Brown) Feltmeyer.  She married Homer O. Rice in January of 1936 in Perry County, IL and he preceded her in death on August 19, 1955.  She then married Orange D. Bird on August 22, 1966 in Cambria, IL and he preceded her in death on July 14, 1985.  Lola was a homemaker and a cook at Community Consolidated School District 204, Pinckneyville, IL.  She was a very active member of First Pentecostal Church, Pinckneyville, IL where she served as janitor.  She loved church music and cooking, but especially loved her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Shirlene Kellerman of Pinckneyville, IL; her son, David Rice of Pinckneyville, IL; her daughter-in-law, Sue Rice of Sparta, IL; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sixteen great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Homer O. Rice and Orange D. Bird; a son, Dennis Allen Rice; a son-in-law, Robert Kellerman; four brothers; and two sisters.

Lola’s wishes were to be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL has been entrusted with arrangements.
