So sorry to hear that Maxine passed away. Many,many memories of Carpenter family and playing mud pies w the girls. Always enjoyed summer visits in childhood and times of family gathering in adulthood. Were never ready for our loved ones to go but always know theyre in a better place. Freda Maxine's Obituary

Freda Maxine Janney, age 86, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Heartland Nursing Center, Casey, IL.  She was born December 25, 1932 in Marshall, Clark County, IL the daughter of Carl Clifford Carpenter and Florence Bernice Miller Carpenter.  On September 7, 1952 she married Ronald Dean “Ron” Janney in Martinsville, IL. He passed away on June 27, 2015 after sixty-two years of marriage.

Survivors include sons, Carl Dean (Sharon) Janney of West York, IL and Jeff (Tammi) Janney of Casey, IL; daughters, Vicki (Del) Reed of Casey, IL; Patricia Hain of Marshall, IL and Cindy (Gene) Kannmacher of Martinsville, IL; brother, William Henry Carpenter of Martinsville, IL; sister, Arlene Lascelles of Marshall, IL; twelve grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Margie Johnson and Barbara Simpson; grandson, Adam Reed and great granddaughter, Raegan Wallace.

Maxine was a 1951 graduate of Martinsville High School.  She was employed as a Dietary Aid at Burnside Nursing Center in Marshall, IL.  She also worked as a waitress and for Darcy’s Gift Shop in Martinsville, IL.  Maxine was a faithful member of Island Grove Baptist Church, where she served as Church Clerk and taught Sunday school for several years.  She enjoyed wood crafting, reading and sewing but most of all, spending time with her family.

Funeral services will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Greenwell Funeral Home with Bro. Billie Ray Ulrey and Pastor Keith Wallace officiating.  Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday evening prior to the service at the Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL.  Private burial will be in Island Grove Cemetery, rural Martinsville, IL at a later date with Pastor Justin Janney officiating.

Memorial donation may be made to American Cancer Society, 675 E. Linton St., Springfield, IL 62703.
