Bert was born November 3, 1933 in Newman, Illinois, to the late Bert A. and I. Lucille (Taylor) Good.  He married A. Lucille “Lucy” Craig on September 20, 1952.  In addition to Lucy, his wife of 66 years, his loving family includes three daughters; Judy (Chuck) Rutan of Trophy Club, Texas, Janet (Jack) Menser of Ashmore, Illinois and Linda (Ken) Strange of Charleston; six grandchildren, Jeff Rutan, Jon (Leanne) Rutan, Kara (Rick) Metzger, Chris Lee, Ryan Strange and Chad (Laura) Strange; two step-grandchildren, Josh (Alana) Menser and Nicki (Nick) Reiser; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Patricia McDaniel of Paris, Illinois.

Bert was a life-long meat cutter, a career that began when he was in Junior High School.  Most will remember him as the Meat Department Manager at the Wilb Walkers Supermarket in Charleston.  Bert was also the owner of Good’s Advertising, supplying many local businesses with their advertising needs.    Bert was an avid bowler, a love that he shared with Lucy, and one that they have passed on to their children and grandchildren.  He was a member of the American Bowling Congress and served as secretary of the local chapter.  He was also a member of the Charleston Moose Lodge #1388, the Charleston Jaycees and the Charleston Lions Club, receiving numerous awards throughout the years including Lion of the Year.  As an avid fan of St. Louis Cardinal Baseball, family trips to games were often enjoyed and his television was always tuned in to a Cardinal game or an Illini sporting event.

Bert was a loving husband and father, and a doting grandfather.  His family will forever treasure their many fond memories of truly special times shared.
