Stephen Earl Salisbury, age 62, of Murphysboro, IL, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 9:30 p.m. in the VA Medical Center Hospice Care, Marion, IL.
Stephen was born on January 13, 1957 in Warren, OH, the son of Bill Charles and Margaret Ruth (Weiland) Salisbury. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. On March 29, 1986, he married Linda Smith in Grand Rapids, MI and she survives. Stephen had worked in steel sales with various companies for 26 years and later in commercial property management. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the Moose Lodge #1591, Murphysboro, IL and enjoyed hunting, especially deer, dove and duck. Stephen was an exceptional cook and loved cooking. His greatest love though was his family and spending time with them.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Salisbury of Murphysboro, IL; mother, Margaret “Peggy” Salisbury of Carbondale, IL; a son, Brian Salisbury of Warren, OH; a daughter, Amy (Jeff) Beutel of Owosso, MI; three sisters, Kim (Stephen) Farmer of Marietta, GA, Meg (Bill) Simonds of Cobden, IL and Martha (Kevin) Wallace-Kozlowski of Carbondale, IL; two grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Salisbury.
Stephen’s wishes were to be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to VA Medical Center, Marion, IL or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL has been entrusted with arrangements.
