Carol Kay Jones, age 81, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 9:00 p.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL.
Kay was born on March 8, 1938 in Pinckneyville, IL, a daughter to Frenche and Wilma (Hawkins) Shurtz. On December 20, 1963, she married Carl Richard Jones in Pinckneyville, IL and he preceded her in death on October 3, 2018 after over 54 years of marriage. Kay was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL and enjoyed painting, gardening, fishing and spending time with her friends.
Survivors include her two sons, Jeffrey Dale McCauley of Dowell, IL and Timothy Louis McCauley of Pinckneyville, IL; a sister, Pamela (Garland) Wright of Lake Charles, LA; four grandchildren, Brody McCauley, Carlie McCauley, Ian McCauley and Austin Mendoza; her dog, Rusty; very special friends, Nancy Eachues, Brother Bill Uhles, and Dan and Carla Chapman and their sons, Luke and Parker Chapman, who were like grandsons to her; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl Richard Jones; a brother, Donald Louis Shurtz; and a sister, Marilyn Sue Bird.
Kay’s wishes were to be cremated and no service will be held.
Memorial donations may be made to the Perry County Humane Society or the Lighthouse Shelter, Marion, IL.
Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL has been entrusted with arrangements.
