He was born Lloyd Lynne Huddlestun on September 27, 1944 in Arcola, Illinois, the son of the late Lloyd and Dorothy “Dottie” (Seaman) Huddlestun. He married Pamala Ann Wright on September 3, 1983 in Kansas, Illinois and they have been blessed with 35 years of marriage. In addition to his loving and devoted wife, Pam, left to cherish their many wonderful memories are three children, Matt Huddlestun and wife Cherie and Lynnette Bennett, all of Charleston and Dee Lathrop and husband Bert of Olney, Illinois; nine grandchildren who gave him joy beyond measure, Jada Huddlestun, Devin Bennett, Macie Bennett, Clay Johnson, Kameron Lathrop, Payton Hash, Brooklyn Lathrop, Alexa Lathrop and Jase Lathrop; his sister, Judy Wilson and husband August of rural Charleston; and nieces and nephews and their families.
Lynne was a class of 1962 Charleston High School graduate and honorably served his country with the United States Army from 1965 – 1971. He was a member of Salisbury Church, a member and Past Master of the Hutton Masonic Lodge #698 A.F. & A.M., and a former member of the Kansas American Legion Post #539. Lynne was a life-long trucker, driving for Simonton Windows and more recently for Bob Morgan Trucking based out of Paris, Illinois.
Lynne was an outdoorsman – this time of the year would take him to the woods mushroom hunting; tending to his lawn as he loved his time on the mower; or planting his huge garden that would keep him busy all summer long. Lynne’s family looked forward to their long walks in the woods, especially those guided by only the moonlight, visits to the persimmon tree in the fall; cutting firewood that would sustain warmth and comfort during the cold days and nights; and tractor rides. He was a gifted storyteller and always had a joke to share with family and friends. He was an avid reader, especially fond of western novels, and enjoyed playing online games and cards with his family. Lynne’s grandchildren knew he would be in attendance at their many events - cheering them on - and his entire family was blessed with his unconditional love. They could always rely on his support – he was their biggest fan both on and off the field. Lynne was the patriarch of his family and though they will dearly miss him, they will forever cherish the bonds of many special times shared with one another.
