Sis Shirley such a beautiful lady, it didn't take long for me love her. She always had a hug and a kind word, complement ready for me. There were many days she uplifted me and was a blessing to me. I already miss her dazzling smile and pearls of feisty wisdom. Condolences, prayers, loving thoughts and hugggzz to every member of her family.

Sorry for your loss. Its a blessing knowing where she is now and that shes in a much better place than here. She always seemed like such a kind person.

Thinking of you and wishing you moments of peace and comfort as you remember your mother who was so close to you and a very wonderful ❤ and a very lovable ❤ ❤ person.

Shirley's Obituary

Shirley Ruff, age 82, of DuQuoin, IL passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 4:12 a.m. in Herrin Hospital, Herrin, IL.

Shirley was born on June 12, 1936 in DuQuoin, IL, a daughter to Hershel “Pete” and Clara Marie Bell (Huffstutler) Jones. She married Kenneth Ruff on November 23, 1953 in Pinckneyville, IL and he preceded her in death on October 8, 1991. Shirley was a homemaker. She was a member of Jubilee Tabernacle, Desoto, IL for 33 years. Shirley loved puzzle books, watching Gunsmoke and taking care of her family.

Survivors include her four sons, Steve (Kim) Ruff of Old DuQuoin, IL; John (Debbie) Ruff of DuQuoin, IL; Kenneth (Sharon) Ruff of Benton, IL; and Matthew Ruff of DuQuoin, IL; three daughters, Lois (Troy) Peppers of Carterville IL; Phyllis George of Nashville, IL; and Rosemary Sisney of Carterville, IL; one brother, Mark Jones of DuQuoin, IL; one sister-in-law, Brenda Jones of DuQuoin, IL; thirteen grandchildren, Nathan, Wade, Amanda, Jeremiah, Matthew II, Chatanya, Heath, Tallen, Jonathan, Michael, Thomas, Shawn, and Chad; twenty-four great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, John Jones; one sister-in-law, Gloria Jones; and one grandson, PJ.

Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Danny Norman officiating. Interment will be at Antioch Cemetery, Tamaroa, IL.

Visitation will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.

In Lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the family of Shirley Ruff.

Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL has been entrusted with arrangements.
