Loren Francis Neil 'Buster' Millam, Sr, age 60, of Casey, IL passed away at 2pm on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Coles County, IL. He was born March 4, 1959 in Effingham, IL, the son of Francis Lee Millam and Mary Maxine Southard Millam.
Buster loved camping, boating, fishing, old television westerns, classic rock and country music, bald eagles, ‘beautiful 5’3” semi-Caucasian women’, the color blue, playing pool, watching John Wayne, Clint Eastwood and Charles Bronson films, spending time with his kids and grandkids and Calverts. Not necessarily in that order. He was a friend to everyone who met him. He was the type of person who you could ask for a dollar and he would give you two even when he didn't have much to give.
Buster loved to joke and tell stories. You could be sure the jokes would be inappropriate and the stories only 50% true. You just never knew which 50%. When he was able to work, he worked hard and played even harder. He was kind, loyal, larger than life and a hero to his kids and grandkids. His life's motto was 'My Life. My Way.'
Buster leaves behind his children, Jeanette Facer (Okey, Jr.) of Pocahontas, IL; Christina Millam (Levi Closson) of Greenup, IL; Loren Millam, Jr. (Jessie Whalen) of Martinsville, IL and Miranda Fisher of Casey, IL; brother, Dennis Millam (Marsha) of Casey, IL; sisters, Brenda Morgan of Casey, IL and Sharon Conlee of Gillespie, IL; grandchildren, Jacqueline, Nathaniel, Raegan and 'LB' Facer; Eliza Shaw and Blaine Shonk; Landen Millam and Preston Fisher as well as many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold O'Dell and sister, Kathy Sanchez.
He died from smoke inhalation after he rushed into a burning building to save orphaned kittens. Or did he? He always liked to tell stories!
Memorial donations may be made to the family c/o Markwell Funeral Home, PO Box 175, Casey, IL 62420.
A Memorial/Celebration of Life service for Buster will be held Friday, May 10, 2019. Graveside services will begin at 1:00pm in the Washington Street Cemetery in Casey, IL presided by his uncle, Rev. Gene Southard. Following the graveside services, family and friends are welcome to convene at Brownie's Place, 111 S. Central Ave., Casey, IL, for food, fellowship and sharing of fond memories. Family and friends under 21 are welcome from 2pm-5pm. From 5pm onward, family and friends 21 and older will share stories, laughs and maybe a toast or two in Buster's honor.
