He will be sadly missed he was a good friend of dads.

Scott and I were so shocked and saddened to hear of Bill's passing. Our prayers and sympathy go out to the family; especially to you, Carole. Carol and Scott Van Dyke Broken Arrow, Ok.

We were so sorry to find out about "Mr. Auctioneer", Bill's passing. We still feel very blessed to have met him and you. You aquainted us with so many members of the family we had not met, through the Hill's reunion.

So very sorry to hear of Billy's passing. He was a wonderful person and now is an angel in heaven. One of my fondest memories was when he and Terry Hammond would do the auctioning at the Burris,Miller, Staley reunions. RIP Billy. Love, Sheryl Redman

Billy Ray's Obituary

Billy Ray Burris, age 80, of Casey IL passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN.  He was born October 6, 1938 in Clark County, IL. He was the son of Everett Burris and Effie Colvin Burris. On March 17, 1961 he married Carole Lee Cribelar at Willow Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Carole Lee Burris and sister, Lucy Montgomery of Martinsville, IL.  Son, Tony Burris (Tina) of Casey IL, children, Danielle (Nathan) Deters of Teutopolis, IL, Toni Rae (Jerimyah) Budd of Casey, IL, and children Avery and Lorelei Budd.  Daughter, Cherri Finney (Chris) of Hobe Sound, FL, children Jessica (Stephen) Nix and children Reagan, Riley, Reece of IN, Jerusha (Travis) Dykes and sons Logan and Landon of Hobe Sound, FL, Jacinda (Jac) Crawford and daughter Madelyn of Munford, AL, Jordan Finney (Katherine) and sons Camden and Bentley of Hobe Sound, FL and Jared Finney of Hobe Sound, FL.  Daughter, Christi Dodd and children Nathalie, Javier, and Aaliyah of Carmel, IN.  He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Max, Maxine, Eugene, Dean, Elizabeth Perkins, Kenneth, Victor, Marjorie Hammond, John, Betty Darling, Bobbie Joe, Buddy and Nancy Lee.

He graduated from Casey High school in 1956.  He served his country in the U. S Army from to 1961-1967.

Softball was his passion and he announced Casey Girls home games for nearly 15 years.  He was a Director of the Illinois ASA Softball Museum in Casey, Illinois and a recipient of the Casey Softball Hall of Honor. On April 13, 2019 he was inducted into the Illinois State Hall of Fame.

He was also the president of the Casey-Westfield Alumni Association, where he presented scholarships to several graduates of C-WHS.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Casey United Methodist Church with Rev. Gene Southard and Rev. Gary Fairchild officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Kickapoo Cemetery, rural Martinsville, IL with Graveside Military Rites by the Casey VFW and Martinsville American Legion. Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. on Monday evening at Casey United Methodist Church, 703 N State Hwy 49, Casey, IL.
