Cecil's Obituary

Cecil Dean, age 85, of Coulterville, IL, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 1:56 p.m. in St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, O’Fallon, IL.

Cecil was born on October 2, 1933, in Swanwick, IL, a son to Clarence Vernon and Bessie (Williams) Dean. He first married Marie Fontana and to this union two children were born. He later married Donna Higgerson on October 7, 2013 in Chester, IL and she survives. In Cecil’s lifetime, he worked as a Mechanical Engineer working on submarines for the Naval Warfare Service. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Cecil loved gardening, plants and working outdoors, but he especially loved spending time with his wife and family.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Dean of Coulterville, IL; two daughters, Jennifer Knox of Wilmington, DE and Joan Dean of Wilmington, DE; two grandchildren, Noah and Wyatt Knox of Wilmington, DE; two step-sons, Duane Conway of Pinckneyville, IL and Greg (Amy) Conway of Pinckneyville, IL; one step-daughter, Cheryl (Terry) Oettle of Tamaroa, IL; seven step-grandchildren, Jayce (Angie) Conway, Brandon Conway, Nicholas Pelker and Brady, Brendan, Zane and Zoey Conway; one brother, Clifford Dean of Freeburg, IL; one sister-in-law, Myrtle Dean of Charleston, SC; a dear friend, Bill Stolte of Tilden, IL; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and four siblings, Millie Rodgers, Leroy Dean, Ruby Whitmore and Eldridge Dean.

A graveside memorial service will be held in Tilden Cemetery on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Terry Jackson officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
