Richard Allen Myers, age 78, of Carbondale, IL, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at 9:10 p.m. in Shawnee Christian Village, Herrin, IL.
Richard was born on December 7, 1940 in Elkville, IL a son to Van Allen and Helen Henrietta (Fisk) Myers. He married Selevia Brown on March 28, 1988 in Wickliffe, KY and she survives. Richard worked in security for the railroad and was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the Rod and Gun Club, Men’s softball league, coal miner’s softball team, and the adult male basketball club.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Selevia Myers of Carbondale, IL; a son, Jermaine Myers of Mt. Vernon, IL; a daughter, Mia (Jonathon) Porter of DuQuoin, IL; a brother, Carl (JoAnn) Myers of DuQuoin, IL; two sisters, JoAnn Jackson of DuQuoin, IL and Wilma (Gerald) Brown of Murphysboro, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Billy Buford Myers, James Michael Myers and Donald Lee Myers; one sister, Barbara Jean Myers; and one brother-in-law, Curtis Jackson.
Richard’s wishes were to donate his body to scientific study and no services are being held.
