So sorry to hear of Georgia passing. She was such a nice lady. I worked with her back in the 70's at Cville dairy Queen. My sincerest sympathies to Debbie and all her family.

Georgia L.'s Obituary

Georgia L. Mezel, age 81, of Nashville, IL, formerly of Coulterville, IL passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019 at 11:26 a.m. in St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, O’Fallon, IL.

Georgia was born on August 28, 1937 in Sparta, IL a daughter of Lloyd Wilson and Mary Irene (Kramlich) Hill. She married Jimmie Lee Mezel on December 28, 1954 in Sparta, IL and he preceded her in death on May 23, 1999. Together they shared 44 years of marriage. Georgia first worked for MCA Records, Pinckneyville, IL and later worked in Quality Control for Gilster-Mary Lee until she retired. She attended Tilden Presbyterian Church, Tilden, IL. Georgia loved to go out to eat, going dancing, shopping, and being around people, but most importantly loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Debra Mezel of Nashville, IL; her son, James “Rusty” (Lisa) Mezel of Walterboro, SC; two sisters, Darlene Mezel of Tilden, IL and Sue Jelfs of Red Bud, IL; a sister-in-law, Donna Mezel of O’Fallon, IL; six grandchildren, Travis Burnett, Melissa (Mark) DuBois, Sarah (Lauren) Mezel-Fuquea, Taylor (Andi) Mezel, Michael Lively and Travis (Sarah) Lively; five great-grandchildren, Margaret DuBois, Trenton Lively, Abigail Lively, Hazel Lively and Jack Lively; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and her beloved cat, Sissy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jimmie Mezel; two brothers, Dale Hill and Norman Stanley; one sister, Joy Little; and her dear friend, Augie Voytas.

A memorial service will be held at Tilden Presbyterian Church, Tilden, IL on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. with Reverend Dr. Dennis Hamilton officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Coulterville City Cemetery, Coulterville, IL.

Visitation will be held at Tilden Presbyterian Church, Tilden, IL on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Friendship Manor, Nashville, IL.
