Arthur Raymond “Art” Davis, Sr., age 87, of Olney, IL passed away on Monday, June 3, 2019, at Aperion Care, Olney, IL. He was born September 30, 1931 in Westfield, IL, the son of Edward Oscar “Pete” Davis and Ruth Mariah Lacy Davis. On October 30, 1956, he married Wiletha Bushart in MS; she passed away on February 28, 2009.
Survivors include his son, Arthur Davis, Jr. (Pam Feutz) of Evansville, IN; grandsons, Joseph Davis of Denver, CO and Mark Davis of Mt. Vernon, IL; brother, Rex Davis (Elaine) of Fairmount, IL; sisters, Denzel Richardson; Kay Smith (Larry) and Roberta Boyer, all of Casey, IL; sisters in law, Emma Jean Davis and Naomi Davis, both of Casey, IL and many nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Wiletha Davis; brothers, Clayton, Dayne, Dale, Edward, Charles and Perry Davis and sister, Mary Ratts.
Art was a 1950 graduate of Westfield High School. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Art was a barber for 20 years in Westfield, IL and later retired from Roadmaster Bicycles in Olney, IL. He was a member of the Westfield American Legion, Sailor Springs American Legion and Olney American Legion. He attended the Elm Street Christian Church, Olney, IL; where he enjoyed volunteer work and participating in mission trips. Art enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing and fixing things.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at Markwell Funeral Home with Pastor Charlie Duke officiating. Burial will follow in Ashmore Cemetery, Ashmore, IL with graveside military rites by Westfield American Legion and Kansas American Legion. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
