Shawver on December 25, 1945 at the home of her parents north of Charleston. They were married just shy of 54 years before Donald’s death on December 18, 1999. She leaves a son, Charles Shawver of Ashland, Missouri; four grandchildren, Heather, Phillip, Katy and Sarah; and a great-grandson, Jaxyn. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Ronald Lee Shawver and Paul Henry Shawver, a daughter-in-law, Laurie Shawver; two brothers, Billy Max and George Henry Seaman; and a sister, Dorothy Huddlestun.
Alice was a graduate of Charleston High School and furthered her education by attending Eastern Illinois University and the University of Missouri. She was a real estate broker and co-owner of Re-Max Realty when living in Columbia, Missouri. Her church membership remains with the First Baptist Church in Columbia and she was a member of P.E.O. Chapter CF.
The family farm located south of Charleston remained special to Alice and she never lost her love for farming or the farm life. She loved animals and enjoyed the deer that would frequent her back yard, the chipmunks which provided great entertainment, and the beauty of the many birds and other wildlife that she loved to watch. Alice had been a snowbird for many years and truly enjoyed wintering in Cape Coral, Florida and renewing friendships. Her love for harp music sparked her desire to learn to play the harp which was quite an accomplishment as she was in her late 80’s.
Alice was always a lady and a woman who possessed class and was known to most assuredly be fashionably dressed. She will be greatly missed by the family she dearly loved and her wealth of friends.
