I miss my sister friend so much. I still catch myself wanting to call her

My sincere sympathy to the Hankla family. Crystal and I were friends in high school, I was hoping to see her at our 40th class reunion this summer. I remember Crystal as being dedicated to her church, being very kind hearted and having such a good sense of humor! She could use that humor to transform an ordinary task --such as mixing up a batch of rice crispy squaresinto a hilariously fun and funny event! Crystal Rae's Obituary

Crystal Rae Hankla, age 58, of Humboldt, TN, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2019 at 4:20 p.m. in her home.

Crystal was born on March 30, 1961 in Benton, IL, a daughter to Kenneth Ray and Dorothy (Karapandza) Hankla. She had worked for Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, Jackson, TN, as an office manager for 29 ½ years. Crystal was a member of the First Baptist Church, Humboldt, TN and had a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Union University, Jackson, TN. She loved singing, reading, crocheting afghan blankets for family and caps for cancer patients. Crystal also enjoyed Christmas with family, and was waiting to be a great aunt.

Survivors include her parents, Kenny and Dorothy Hankla of Pinckneyville, IL; one sister, Betsy (Brian) Rushing of Pinckneyville, IL; two nephews, Allen (Audrey) Rushing of Columbia, TN and Aaron (Maria) Rushing of Pinckneyville, IL; and two great-nephews on the way.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents and paternal grandparents.

A private family service will be held.

Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church, DuQuoin, IL or Children’s Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville has been entrusted with the arrangements.
