ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL – Opal Maxine Rush, age 92 of Arlington Height and formerly of Champaign and Charleston, Illinois, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2019. Visitation will be held from12:30 – 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. The Funeral Service, honoring and celebrating her life, will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral chapel with Pastor Tracy Larr officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery in Charleston. Donations in her honor may be made to the Champaign Church of Christ and left at the visitation/service or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920.
Opal was born November 8, 1926 in Douglas County, Illinois, a daughter of late Emery and Ethel (Lamb) Stickles. She married William K. Rush on January 31, 1953 in Rardin, Illinois and they were married 57 years prior to his death on May 28, 2010. She is survived by two loving and devoted daughters, Cheryl Wundsam and husband Kurt of Palatine, Illinois and Brenda Robinson and husband Alan of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Michelle, Megan, MaKenzie and Andrew; and three great-grandchildren. Opal was also preceded in death by her sister, Agatha Stickles.
Opal was a building services employee at Eastern Illinois University. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Champaign, Illinois and she loved her church family like her own. Opal enjoyed knitting, crocheting, traveling and vacationing, especially with her family, who were near and dear to her heart. She always made her children and grandchildren her priority and her love and devotion for them was unquestionable.
Funeral ServiceThe funeral service celebrating the life of Opal Rush was held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Adams Funeral Chapel with Pastor Tracy Larr officiating. Sharing memories were eulogists Mike Rawls, Amy Myers, Alan Robinson, Kurt Wundsam and a letter from Nancy Blair was read by Pastor Larr. Burial followed in Mound Cemetery in Charleston. Pallbearers were Alan Robinson, Kurt Wundsam, James McCune, Mike Myers, Michelle Robinson, Megan Robinson, MaKenzie Rodgriquez and Chris Shafer. Mr. Tim Rawls gave the closing prayer at the cemetery.
