CHARLESTON, IL – Charles Michael Strange, age 64 of Charleston, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 due to complications of surgery at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until Noon on Monday, August 26, 2019 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. The Funeral Service, honoring and celebrating his life, will begin at Noon on Monday at the funeral chapel with Pastor Tom Farris officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston. Donations in his honor may be made to his daughter, Adrien Strange, and left at the visitation/service or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920.
Charles was born October 16, 1954 in Terre Haute, Indiana, the son of Michael and Susan (Decker) Strange. Chuck was married to Lisa Gossett and from that marriage is a daughter, Adrien Strange of Charleston, who survives. Chuck is also survived by additional children and their families, Stacie, Dustin, Cassie and Shawn; his loving and devoted fiancé, Joy Tichenor of Charleston; his father and stepmother, Michael and Linda Strange of Effingham, Illinois; and stepchildren, Justin Gossett and wife Ashley, and Chase Haddix and Samantha Haddix, all of Charleston. Chuck enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren: Adrien’s son, Madden “Goobie” Bell and Justin’s son, Ayden Gossett, both of Charleston. Chuck was the oldest of seven children and is survived by his siblings and their families; Debra (Cy) Brewer; Cheryl (Leslie) Wilson, and Ken (Linda) Strange, all of Charleston; Karen (Boyd) Johnson of Sullivan, Illinois, Laura (Joseph) Oder of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Kristine (Larry) McCoy of Charleston. Chuck was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Charles and Susan Wright and an uncle, Max Strange.
Chuck was a self-employed plumber before accepting a position as an inspector with the City of Charleston, where he was employed for 17 years before retiring in 2016. He faithfully and honorably served his country with the United States Army in Vietnam and was a member of the NECA-IBEW. Chuck believed in keeping life simple. He loved the outdoors and going camping and sharing an occasional day of fishing with family. He was dearly loved and will be truly missed.

Funeral ServiceThe funeral service celebrating the life of Chuck Strange was held at Noon on Monday, August 26, 2019 at Adams Funeral Chapel with Pastor Tom Farris officiating. Musical selections included "Amazing Grace", "Go Rest High on That Mountain" and "Old Rugged Cross". Burial followed in Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston. Pallbearers included: Dale Decker, Chase Haddix, Larry McCoy, Justin Gossett, Joel Ranson and Bill Davis. Honorary Pallbearers were Ken Strange and Bob "Fergy" Ferguson.
