It was very sad to hear of Bob’s passing. Although it has been close to 30 years ago, that I worked with Bob on Purina projects, I will never forget his positive attitude. He always found a way to turn negative issues positive. I enjoyed our work interactions, but our equal love of the outdoors and hunting sealed our relationship. Bob was very proud of his family and his relationship with his church. May he rest in peace and God watch over his family.

Our friendship began at the University of Wisconsin. Bobby was a Beta Theta Pi and was dating my sorority sister, Nancy Halleen. Bobby stood out among the young men - he was thoughtful, smart, gentlemanly and full of fun! Our friendship continued over the years, kindled by get togethers arranged by our mutual friends, Karen and Orrin. These were special times, as we shared memories, information about our growing families and our careers - but most of all it was the joy of being together...

We had the good fortune of meeting Bob in 2000 in St. Louis. Bob was easily the friendliest person to welcome us to a new city and include us and our children as if we were part of his own family. A family that he loved dearly and held in the highest regard. We send prayers to the entire Claus family, and especially to Nancy who Bob loved and appreciated beyond measure.

Never ever was there a man like my Daddy, Bob Claus! From childhood to becoming best friends in my adulthood, I always knew he was my number one fan and loved me always, ALWAYS! His direction, support and fun friendship (we had a lot of good times) gave me a lifetime of memories. I wish we could do it all again! I may have lost my Earthly dad but will see him again in Heaven for eternity. I requested that he save a room in his Heavenly mansion for me! In Bob Claus fashion he said “Done!”

I had the experience of knowing Bob since the early 70’s at Maritz. Our paths would crisscross several times over the years until we ended up working together at the end of our careers. To say Bob was unique would be doing a disservice to unique. A “no” from someone who was going to buy from him was merely a suggestion for Bob. Casual dress was top hat and tails. An anniversary demanded a jersey with name and years. A hunting trip? Never mind. I could go on.
I always felt three things...

I was fortunate enough to be able to have met Mr. Claus in 2011, he employed me as his contractor to remodel his newly purchased town home at that time. Over my years in the business, I have met numerous people that I have done work for, but Mr. Claus definitely stood out among the rest. He was a man of integrity, and he always was friendly , and took interest in me , wanting to know about myself and my family, and he always complemented.
me on the work that I had done for him.

Robert Fredrick Claus, of Chesterfield, Missouri, a faithful servant of our Lord Jesus Christ, departed this earthly life on October 14, 2024. He was surrounded in prayer by his wife, children and granddaughter. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Des Peres, Missouri. Visitation will be held for one hour before the service. Interment will be at Trinity Lutheran Church in Howards Grove, Wisconsin on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
Bob was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, on September 20, 1941, to Marvin and Edna Claus. He was baptized into the Christian faith on October 12, 1947. His early education was in Sheboygan. After high school, Bob attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison, graduating in 1966 with a degree in Economics and Finance. During his time at UW, Bob courted Nancy Jane Halleen, whom he had met while serving as a Boy Scout camp counselor at Camp Rokilio on Cedar Lake, where the Halleen family owned a cottage. On August 21, 1965, Bob and Nancy were united in holy marriage at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
Bob began his professional career working for Caterpillar, Inc. Promotions required him to move his growing family several times. In 1973, Bob accepted a sales position with Maritz, Inc. in Michigan. In 1991, Bob became VP of National Accounts and was transferred to Maritz Headquarters in Fenton, Missouri, where he remained until his retirement in 2008.
Throughout his adult life Bob was active in the Lutheran congregations where he and Nancy raised their children. Bob held leadership positions and had a love of singing, adding his tenor voice to the choirs. The Claus family was faithful in church attendance, Lutheran education, and faith formation. The love of Jesus in his heart prompted him to serve with gladness and to generously share what he had with others.Through his position at Maritz, Bob and Nancy traveled extensively around the world. Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman and included his sons, nephews, and grandsons on many occasions. Bob never backed down from an opportunity to witness his faith to people who didn’t know God’s grace in Jesus.
Bob Claus, dearest husband, Daddy, Boppa, and greatest-grandfather, leaves a legacy of faith, ever focusing on the cross of Christ. He is survived by his adoring wife of 59 years and his five children: Lisa, Robert Carl (Sandra Fowler), Jennifer (Daniel Rockwood), Matthew (Julie Bender), and Katherine (Christopher Trokey). Fifteen grandchildren: Elizabeth (Daniel Juers), Alexander (Abigayle Kimont) and Sarah Perry; Robert Patrick, Caroline and Emily Claus; Julia, Anna and Ava Rockwood; Liliana, Elaina and Clayton Claus; Paige, Spencer and Carter Trokey. To commemorate Bob’s life, one of service and generosity, a memorial has been established to continue his legacy with the Tell the Wonders Building Campaign at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Des Peres, Missouri.
