David W. Coombs Jr., 69, peacefully passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025. Born in Allentown, David was the son of the late David W. Sr. and Seraphine M. (Solga) Coombs. He was a graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School, class of 1973. For many years, David worked alongside his father and was the owner and operator of Coombs Machinery Rigging. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to go hiking and camping especially with his closest companions, his dogs: Rocky and Rylee. David enjoyed bird watching at the shore, biking, cross country skiing, snowmobiling and 4 wheeling his trucks with his friends. Over the years, David collected antique Jeeps and was active in the WWII reenactments. He was a member of multiple VFWs throughout the Lehigh Valley. Growing up he was the head of the "Pump House Gang" in Whitehall and he adored all his pets and animals over the years.

Surviving are his sisters: Linda and her husband John Hertzog, Charlotte wife of the late J Russell Law, and Joan Coombs. David was predeceased by his sisters Barbara Heydt and Sera Jane Coombs wife of Keith Esmail. Nieces and Nephews: Robert Jr., Melissa, Tara, Rene, Zachary, Radnor, Remington, Courtney, Brandon, Jason, Eric, Maxwell, Charles and India. Great Nieces and Great Nephews: Tristan, Tucker Jr., Tressa, Olivia, Rory and Roshan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00AM on Saturday June 21, 2025, at St. John Fisher Catholic Church in Catasauqua. Calling Hours are 6:00-8:00PM on Friday June 20, 2025, in the O'Donnell Funeral Home in Catasauqua and on Saturday from 9:30-10:30AM in the Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in David's memory to the Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, care of the O'Donnell Funeral Home.

The family asks that you bring your favorite picture of David, and the dress code is Casual, Formal or Hiking!

My colodences to the Coombs family . I went to school with his sister Sera and although I didn't know David well , I met with David at the former Dent hardware building at his yard sale . David and I wound up talking for well over a hour , we enjoyed conversations about Fullerton kids and things Fullerton of years past . David had a wealth of knowledge on Fullerton history , and I was looking forward to our next time reminiscing old local history . Sadly David passed a month later . , one story David told me was when he was a young boy aged 6 years old , his mother asked him if he would burn the garbage , of course he said yes and he took such delight in doing so , it was a fond boyhood memory of David's and it was a joy for him telling the story , May he rest in peace , He is now with God and family

I was saddened and surprised to hear about Dave Coomb's passing. I met Dave when he was about 18 (over 50 years ago) and he came to study the Martial Arts with me. He attained the high level of the Black Belt ranking and maintained his interest in the Arts over the years. He became a good friend and we kept our contact over all that time! Dave you will be missed but never forgotten. May you truly rest in Peace. Tim Hawk

David was all about love for his family and luckily for us his arms embraced his friends as family too. Looking at pictures and triggering memories made me realize how he affected all of us around him. All the truck camping knowledge and adventures we have had at "Camp David" and continue to have in the future, we owe to David. Our friend by the fire, the guy leading the hike up the trail, the Loyalsock Winter Camper and our Starman. You will be missed, but never forgotten.

I have had the privilege of working with Dave & his crew for many years. He and his crew have moved a lot of machinery for us over the years. His knowledge of textile machinery always amazed me. We also shared a few common interests. I have always enjoyed spending time with him weather it was work or in conversation. He will be sorely missed by me and many many others!

David was my classmate at Central Catholic, class of 73. He sat behind me for 4 years in home room. More recently I enjoyed reconnecting with him at our class reunions. He will be missed. Gone too soon. Rest in peace David.
