Bill Marler

1939 - 2010

Bill Marler, aged 71, died on October 8, 2010 in Stockton after a long illness, with his family by his side. A resident of Stockton for 47 years, Mr. Marler was born in Mountain Home, Arkansas in 1939. He relocated to California in 1955, where he began a nearly 50-year career in the automotive services industry. He held positions with three Stockton automotive service companies, and concluded his career with Rare Parts, Inc. in 2003.
Mr. Marler was a sports car and Harley-Davidson enthusiast. He won numerous awards as an amateur autocross racer and was a charter member of one of Stockton's original autocross organizations, the 711 Mustang Club. In his later years, Mr. Marler traveled across the country several times with his wife Barbara on one of his prized Harley-Davidson Electra Glide motorcycles.
Mr. Marler is survived by his high-school sweetheart and wife of 50 years, Barbara. He is also survived by his daughters, Tammy Smith of Yuba City, and Cindy Vernon of Livermore; his son Tom Marler of Tampa, FL.; his sister, Inez Graham of San Andreas; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A Graveside Service will be held at Sutter Cemetery 7200 Butte Avenue, Sutter, CA. 95982, on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow.
