John Phillips Obituary

John J. Phillips, a 21 year resident of Woodbridge, CA, passed away on October 11, 2010 at the age of 57. He was born in Chicago, IL on May 19, 1953, the oldest of 4 children. At the age of 22, John moved to California, so happy to be leaving his snow shovel behind. Several years later, he met and fell instantly in love with his wife, Leslie. They were married in 1978 and blessed with 2 wonderful children, Rebecca in 1981 and Trevor in 1983.
John became a CPA in 1979 and earned a Masters in Tax in 1981. He worked in private practice as a CPA for 10 years, then used his expertise with Dutra Construction for 7. Ultimately his ambitions led him to start a successful consulting firm.
John had a keen mind, with a love for challenges, knowledge, and trivia. He had a compassionate and giving heart and volunteered his services to anyone with a need. His playful spirit brought joy to everyone who knew him.
John is survived by his wife, Leslie; his children, Rebecca and Trevor; his brother, 2 sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of John's Life on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 11:00 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 701 S. Pleasant Ave, Lodi, CA.
Memorials can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Children's Ministries.

We feel this isn't real......took us two days to try to wrap our heads around this.....still trying....and it sucks. Halloween memories, soccer memories, T-ball memories with the boys, my 40th birthday extravaganza with the limo (best time ever, never to be forgotten). We can't even begin to imagine your pain. We want to be there for you and Rebecca and Trevor however we can........for real.........Jim and Shelley Molles

Leslie,Rebecca and Trevor, We are so sorry to hear about John's passing. He was always a joy to be around. The Christmas parties, the pool parties or at church we enjoyed his sense of humor and his love of life. We will miss him. You are in our prayers. (The Robert Kiesz family.)

Leslie, Rebecca and Trevor, I had the true pleasure of working with John so closely over the last 3 years that, he was practically given an office next to me and where John became a fixture with us here at the SF City Atty's Office. John became not only a good friend to all of us here that handle construction issues; but close enough that we often gave him a good ribbing; could finish his sentences and many of us could recite back to him a number of his punch lines and anecdotal stories. We will definitely miss the man who call himself the Dr. of Whining. John kept telling me that someday soon I would have to meet his better half, which I will do tomorrow. But I am truly sorry to do so under these circumstances. (David Norman, San Francisco.)
