Velda L. Seibel

1925 - 2010

Velda L. Seibel passed away on December 7, 2010, at the age of 85. Mrs. Seibel was born in Alta, North Dakota on October 22, 1925, to Jacob J. and Pauline (Wahl) Stroh. She graduated from Mc Cluskey High School and attended Business College in Bismarck, N.D. She moved to Lodi and met and married Gene Seibel December 30, 1945. She worked at Tolliver's Printing Co. as a bookkeeper and later, part-time for HM Young Fruit Co., and the American Legion. Her love for nice glassware later lead to a part-time career at Emery & Brown Appliance and Gifts and Parrett's. Velda and Gene loved camping, fishing and traveled to 49 states. She liked working with lapidary and wire jewelry. Her love for record keeping helped to obtain and keep family history records. She was a member of the John's Lake Mennonite Church, Lodi Gem & Mineral Society, the American Legion Auxiliary, and attended Vinewood Community Church. She is survived by her husband, Eugene Seibel of Lodi; daughters, Carla Schimke of Lodi and Pamela (Doug) Suess of Modesto; four grandchildren, Kerwyn (Rebecca) Schimke, Kasey (Kristy) Schimke, Jeremy (Bryn) Suess, Jeffrey (Kristen) Suess; four great-grandchildren, Zachary , Caleb, and Madeline Schimke, and Dashiell Suess; and sister, Lorraine (Ruben) Gartner of Lodi. Friends are invited to visit Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, December 14th, at 10:00 a.m. at Cherokee Memorial Park with a Memorial Service to follow at 2:00 p.m., December 14th, at Vinewood Community Church. Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Seibel's name to Vinewood Community Church, 1900 W. Vine, Lodi, CA 95242.
