Alice Bauer Obituary

Alice was born the second daughter to Gustave and Sarah Miller Rauser in Drake, North Dakota on September 28, 1933. She moved to Lodi with her parents in the late 1940's when her father, a minister, accepted a position as pastor of the First Baptist Church in Lodi. She graduated from Lodi High, class of 1951 and worked for a time before marrying William Bauer, Jr., of Lodi, on May 1, 1952. For a short time, they lived in Sacramento, CA, and then moved to Denver, CO with his job. There, they raised their two children, Susan and Jeffrey. They returned to California to live in Marina Del Ray and then to settle in San Clemente for 24 years. During that time, Alice worked 17 years at First Interstate Bank, where her customers loved her infectious smile and positive demeanor. She was a member and deaconess of San Clemente Presbyterian Church. William passed away in 2006, and in May of 2010, Alice moved to Vista, CA to be near her daughter Susan. Alice, with her nuturing and loving nature, and an unshakable faith in God, went home to be with the Lord on December 4, 2010. She is survived by her sister Jean Collier of Creston, CA, her daughter Susan Bauer of Vista, CA, son Dr. Jeffrey Bauer and wife Marianne of Fort Collins, CO, and one grandson Justin Bauer of Denver, CO. A memorial service will be held January 15, 2011 at the San Clemente Presbyterian Church.

Though they were not near us physically, we often thought of both both Alice and Bill. They were great people, and it is a loss for all of us. Our deepest sympathies to you, Susan and Jeff.
