We just found out about Kerry's passing today on Hotbytes. We used to live near Kerry and would see him around the neighborhood often. I remember wonderful Christmas parties standing around the piano and singing carols. He was a great man that always made us smile and laugh out loud. He will truly be missed.

I just found out about Mr. Sommerville's passing yesterday at the St. James Art Festival. I was very saddened to hear about the loss of such a wonderful teacher, funny person, and just a nice man in general. I had many of his classes at Sullivan. I graduated in 2002. It was with his guidance that I made it through. He touched my life and so many others. Thanks Mr. Sommerville. My thoughts and prayers are with family and friends who have suffered a great loss. May you find comfort in great memories of a great person.

I am an instructor at the Lexington campus at Sullivan University, but worked for many years at the Louisville campus with Kerry. He was the untimate instructor. He cared about his students and he was enthusiastic about his work every day he went into class. He set such a good example and will be missed.

Hey there Cheryl, Freida, and Karen,
The Sommervilles are some of the best friends I ever had. Kerry was my first boy friend. I have many loving memories of our growing up days, and I want you to know my thoughts and prayers are with you. I'm so sorry I can't be with you, but I hope you can feel the love. Kerry, we'll meet again someday and I expect you will be pulling some practical joke as soon as I get there!
Love, Anita

My first thought is that Kerry was too full of life to have left us so soon. How sad for all of us who knew him and all who had yet to meet him. I'll never forget dancing with Kerry. He made me feel like I could dance while he effortlessly did all the work. What an example of graciousness and joy he was to us all.

What a shock and what a loss! Kerry was great to work with, and always a willing to help in any way. Although I have been gone from Sullivan for a few years now, Kerry was always someone who's memory brought a smile, because any time I saw Kerry in the halls, I could always count on a smile, and some comment that would just brighten my day. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

I am in total shock. I haven't seen Kerry in years, but I always think of him when I think back on those years at Sullivan. He was always and remains to this day one of my favorites. I bet Heaven will never be more organized where hospitality is concerned. I'm sure he'll be missed. Love ya Kerry!

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time.
Kerry was a wonderful friend, who had an infectious laugh. He was a tremendous co-worker, an inspirational instructor and a man with a sympathetic ear.
I will always remember the fun times we had on our Thursday afternoons at Darryl's or on the porch. The quick smoke breaks between classes and the laughter we shared.
I will miss him greatly, but I know he will always be here with me. May your light shine down upon us all.
Farewell my friend.
