William Newton Obituary

NEWTON, WILLIAM "LEROY," "BILL," 75, died Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at Jewish Hospital. He worked as a mechanical engineer at International Harvester, Inc. for 26 years and later retired from Naval Ordnance. He was a parishioner of St. Athanasius Catholic Church. "Leroy", "Bill", fought a long and valiant fight with several illnesses. He lived his life with honor, integrity and grace and his kindness and concern for others never faltered. He was a rare and precious man, who will be deeply missed by those who love him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas C. and Mabel F. Newton; brother, Edward F. Newton; and grandson, Christian P. Wright. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Deloris; children, Mike Newton (Rhonda), Tony Newton and Julie Wright (Paul); grandchildren, Aaron Newton (Anna), Leah Newton, Sean Newton (Megan), Lucy Newton and Nick, Taylor and Molly Wright; sisters, Louise Goebel and Shirley Humphreys; brother, Charles Newton; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Mass will be Friday at noon at St. Athanasius Church, 5915 Outer Loop Road, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. on Thursday and 10 a.m. on Friday at Arch L. Heady Funeral Home, 8519 Preston Hwy. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society.
