Mark Gettings Obituary

Mark A. Gettings liked camping, fishing & riding motorcycles Lowell Mark A. Gettings, 52, beloved husband of Catherine H. (Clark) Gettings and a resident of the Christian Hill section of Lowell, died Wednesday June 18, 2008 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born in Lowell on August 20, 1955, he was a son of the late William Gettings and Joan (McArthur) Gettings of Lowell who survives him. Mark's employments included The City of Lowell Cemetery Department, Toupin Bros., Mark's Trucking and Excavating, which he owned, and most recently for Kazanjian Brothers. He enjoyed camping, fishing and riding his motorcycle. A talented mechanic, Mark enjoyed fixing cars. In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include two sons, Scott Gettings and his wife Carrie of Milford, NH, Jason Gettings of Lowell; four grandchildren, Andrew and Nicholas Gettings of Milford, NH, Talula and Noah Gettings of Nevada; a sister, MaryAnn Bissett and her husband Steve of Dracut; four brothers, William Gettings and his wife Rita of Lowell, James Gettings of North Carolina, Kevin Gettings and his wife Cheryl of Londonderry, NH, Dennis Gettings and his wife Cheryl of Pelham, NH; his father and motherin-law, William and Theresa Clark of Lowell; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. GETTINGS of Lowell, Mark A., age 52. Relatives and friends may call at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, from 4 until 8 PM on Friday. Funeral services will take place on Saturday morning at 10AM in the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. So sorry for the loss of Mark. He was a fighter up till the very last minute. I admired his strength thru the 4years of his illness. He was a great husband to my sister Cat, a fantastic Dad to his two sons, Scott and Jason and a wonderful pa and father in law and a good caring son to his Mom. He will be greatly missed by many. He will be in all our hearts forever.
