Dorothy Marie Boyer

Dorothy Marie Boyer of Tewksbury, formerly of Peabody; 86 Tewksbury Dorothy Marie (Lemay) Boyer, age 86, a resident of the Tewksbury area for the last decade, died Friday evening, July 4, at the Lahey Medical Center in Burlington. She was the wife of the late Albert Edward Boyer, who died in July 2000. She was born in Disraeli, near Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada on August 8, 1921, a daughter of the late Emile and Laura (LaFrance) Lemay. She earned a Certificate of Pediatric Nursing from Creche de la Misericorde, Montreal, in 1948. She then emigrated to the U.S. in 1949, and settled in Nashua, NH. She married her beloved husband on November 27, 1952, and then moved to Lynn, MA. They then moved to Peabody in 1953, where she would remain for the next 48 years, while raising her family. She became an naturalized US citizen in 1956. Upon the death of her husband she moved to the Tewksbury area, and was most recently in residence at Woodbrier in Wilmington. She was a devout Catholic woman, and was a member of St. Jean Baptiste Church, until it closed in 1998. She then joined St. Ann's Parish in Peabody, and since 2001, was a communicant of St. William's Church in Tewksbury. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ivan Boyer and his wife Theresa (Munoz) of Ashburn, VA; three daughters and sons-in-law, Anne Boiteau and her husband Maurice of Ashland, MA, Ruth Chou and her husband David of Tewksbury, Lynn Merry and her husband Daniel of Danvers, MA; ten grandchildren, Claire Boyer, Elizabeth Boyer, Marc Boyer, Rene Boiteau, Jocelyn Boiteau, Alexander Chou, Dennis Chou, Adam Merry, Richard Guerrero and Robert Guerrero; four siblings, Isidora Lemay, P.Q., Canada, Jeanne Lemay of Nashua, NH, Robert Lemay of St. Petersburg, FL, Bernard Lemay of Montreal, Canada; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 a.m. in St. William's Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte 38) Tewksbury. Burial will follow at St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Lynn.
