Dear Wally, Jen and Christina,

It was a priviledge and honor to have known your Dad. He was much more than a friend to me. He was always the shoulder to lean on when things got tough and often provided me guidance when I was unsure of how to proceed. He was truly a man that did not want to be not defined by his work or accomplishments, but chose to be known for the love he had for his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

Dear Jen, Christina, and Walter III

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time. We were proud and privileged to know your grandfather, and then your "Dad". He will always have a special place in our hearts!! He never spoke of his tour of duty in Viet Nam; he never wanted to be considered a "hero". We considered your Dad to be one of the finest people we knew, and we will always remember him with the greatest respect. May you take comfort in all the memories you shared with your Dad; and know that he loved all of you!!

Our deepest sympathy

It was with deep sorrow that I learned of Walters passing, we were friends in high school and as usually happens, we lost touch with each other. I will always remember him as one of the nicest people I have known, he was a friend to all and my life was enhanced for knowing him.
