Vasilike Andricopoulos Obituary

Vasilike 'Bessie' Andricopoulos Lowell, active at Transfiguration Church; 92 LOWELL Mrs. Vasilike "Bessie" (Serfes) Andricopoulos, a lifelong resident of Lowell died, July 12 , 2008, in Chelmsford, aged 92 years. "Bessie" was the wife of the late Andrew G. Andricopoulos, with whom she celebrated 47 years of marriage. Born in Lowell, on June 12, 1916, the daughter of the late Arthur and Constantina (Anastas) Serfes. She received her early education in the Lowell School system and was a graduate of Lowell High School with the Class of 1933. Upon graduation, she worked for a few years in various mills in the Lowell area until it was time to raise her family. Around the time of 1947, she starting working for the City of Lowell as one of the first crossing guards; and held the position as a Traffic Supervisor P.K.A. Crossing Guard, retiring in 1965. Mrs. Andricopoulos was a lifelong member of Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church. She was a member of the Philoptochos Society, also belonged to the Daughters of Penelope, and very active member of her church groups. "Bessie" was an avid reader, but according to family members her true love was spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a very loving woman and will be sadly missed by many relatives and friends. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Andrew Andricopoulos and his wife, Geraldine of Chelmsford, MA; two sisters, Mary McCarthy of Medford, MA, and Ann Dowling of Lowell; three granddaughters, Christine DeFranco of Danvers, MA, Andrea Boudreau and her husband, Ronald of Tenn. and Alyssa Andricopoulos of Chelmsford; three grandsons, Andrew Andricopoulos and his wife, Kristen of Groveland, Christopher Andricopoulos from Hawaii, and Anthony Andricopoulos of Dracut, MA; 10 great-grandchildren, Andrew Andricopoulos, Steven Andricopoulos, Ashley Andriconis, Megan Andriconis, Heather Boudreau, Brittany Boudreau, Joseph DeFranco, Sydnie DeFranco, Tiffany Andricopoulos, and Kylie Andricopoulos; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. She was the mother of the late George Andricopoulos, Arthur Andricopoulos, and Constance Andricopoulos. Bessie was the sister to the late John Serfes and James Serfes. ANDRICOPOULOS Died in Chelmsford, July 12, 2008, Mrs. Vasilike "Bessie" (Serfes) Andricopoulos, a resident of Lowell, aged 92 years. Wife of the late Andrew G. Andricopoulos. Friends will be received at the MORSE-BAYLISS FUNERAL HOME, 122 Princeton Blvd at Chester and Harvard Sts., Tuesday from 4-8 P.M. Funeral Service from the Funeral Home at 9 A.M. on Wednesday, with a Funeral Service at Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, Clark St. Lowell, MA 01854 at 10 A.M. Friends invited. Friends who wish may make Memorial Contributions in her name to the Transfiguration Mortgage Elimination Fund. Interment in Westlawn Cemetery. Funeral Director Walter F. Dearest Bessie,

You were always a ray of sunshine and hope through the light you spread to all of us by hearing your kind words and witnessing your kind actions. The way you conducted yourself throughout your lifetime is an example for all of us, and we were blessed to have known and loved you and to receive the love you gave us all!

I wish you rest, dearest Bessie, on your quiet and peaceful journey to heaven. I know you are there, and you will remain in my heart always!
