Francis Chim Obituary

Francis San Chim of Lowell, served in the Cambodia Army; 71 LOWELL Francis San Chim, 71, of Lowell, died unexpectedly, after a brief illness, Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. He was the husband of Kolap Sen. Born January 3, 1937, in Battambang, Cambodia, he was orphaned, and was raised by catholic nuns. In Cambodia, he served in the army, and was employed at a bank, and was also a town councilor. He came to the United States in 1984, moving to Chicago, IL. He settled in Lowell in 1987. He suffered a great loss when his eldest daughter, Sochenda Chim passed away unexpectedly in March 2005. Mr. Chim was longtime communicant of St. Patrick's Church. He enjoyed fishing, driving, and most of all, enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, especially car trips with them. Besides his wife, Kolap, he is survived by two sons, Sotha Chim and his wife, Mala of Cambodia, and Sandet Ung and his wife, Nga of California; a daughter, Samnang Chim, and her husband, Mony Kheav of Lowell; 16 grandchildren, Boran Yi Armstrong of Methuen, Bora Chiemruom of Brighton, Paul Yi of Rhode Island, Chanty Mak of Lowell, Anthony Mak of Lowell, Savy Chim of Cambodia, Chamroeun San of Wisconsin, Tharin Chim of Cambodia, Borath Chim of Cambodia, Dela C. San of Wisconsin, Rindy San of Ohio, Sivornne M. Mony of Lowell, Danny Moeun of Ohio, Sovann T. Mony of Lowell, Kristina Moeun of Ohio, Borei Chim of Cambodia; seven great-grandchildren; a niece, Monique Mak, and three nephews including Bunrith Moung and Kimbourn Moung. CHIM YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS ON MONDAY FROM 8 UNTIL 10 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL (978 OR 800) 458-6816.
