Barbara Payne Obituary

Barbara R. 'Rusty' Payne formerly of Somerville; 90 BILLERICA Barbara R. "Rusty" (Wiswall) (Sickles) Payne, age 90, a resident of the River Street seniors community in Billerica, died peacefully Saturday, August 2, at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late William S. Sickles, and later, the late Robert W. Payne Sr. She was born in Chelsea, MA, on March 4, 1918, a daughter of the late Clifton and Myra (Smith) Wiswall. She lived the greater part of her life in Somerville and Arlington, before moving to Merrimac in her later years. She retired after 37 years of service as a secretary and estimator for the Sprague-Hathaway picture frame company, located in Davis Square in Somerville. She was active in the former Teal Square V.F.W. Post 6800, and had served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the chapter. She is survived by a daughter, Judith Shultz of Randolph; three sons and four daughters-in-law, William and Katherine Sickles of Tewksbury, James and Barbara Sickles of AZ, Robert and Lynn Sickles of Stoneham, and Yvette Payne of Tewksbury; a sister, Virginia Twombly of Reading; a sister-in-law, Lindell Wiswall of Texas; 15 grandchildren, Thomas Sickles and his fiancée, Allison Chatfield of Tewksbury, W. Lee Sickles and his wife, Deborah of Groton, Christine Freitas and her husband, Gary of Dracut, Cameron Sickles of Woburn, Jodi Sickles of AZ, Susan Shultz and her fiancé, Norman Towle of Woburn, Larry Shultz and his wife, Kristen of Lynn, Ricky Shultz of Woburn, Robert Shultz and his wife, Jodi of Manchester, NH, Clifford Shultz Jr. and his companion, Nancy of Sagamore, Valerie Mapes of Lynn, Kenneth Savolainen of AZ, Pamela Brubaker of Pepperell, Todd Brubaker of East Boston, Robert T. Payne and his wife, Jo'Ann of Tewksbury; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson, Maynard; and many nieces and nephews. She was also step-mother of Robert W. Payne Jr., and sister of the late Clifton Wiswall. PAYNE formerly of Tewksbury, Aug. 2, Barbara R. "Rusty" (Wiswall) (Sickles) Payne, age 90. Her Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, August 6, at 10:00 a.m. in the TEWKSBURY FUNERAL HOME, corner of Dewey and Main Sts. (Rte 38), TEWKSBURY CENTER, phone (800 in MA or 978) 851-2950. Burial will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery, Merrimac, MA. Visiting hours will be Tuesday 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Barely a time goes by that I have passed Davis Square, or your home in Arlington and not thought of your dear Mother. The friendship that your Mom and Bill had with my parents Helen and Walter lasted many years.
