Mildred Scanlon

Mildred Scanlon formerly of Lowell, was college professor; 93 CHELMSFORD Mildred Scanlon, 93, a resident of Chelmsford, and formerly of the Highland section of Lowell, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008. She was born in Lowell on July 16, 1915, the daughter of the late David and Catherine (Lynch) Scanlon. Mildred received her early education in the Lowell School system, and was a Graduate of Lowell Teachers College. During war time, she piloted aircrafts, and headed the USO in Germany. Prior to her retirement, Mildred was a Professor at Vermont College. She was a member of several organizations, including the American Red Cross, and various women's clubs. Mildred held a masters degree in education, and was until recently working on her dissertation. She is survived by Josephine (McGovern) O'Quinn of Agawam, John Shields and wife, Carol of NJ, Patricia Noyes of VT, and Judith McGovern of Lowell. She was predeceased by James J McGovern, Gerald McGovern, and Elizabeth (McGovern) Muise. SCANLON Mildred Scanlon, 93. Visitation at the Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD on Tuesday morning from 9-10 am, followed by a Funeral Service at 10 o'clock in the Funeral Home.
