Carol L. Mattison

Carol L. Mattison formerly of Chelmsford, antique dealer; 89 NEWBURYPORT Carol L. (Beers) Mattison, age 89, of Newburyport, died peacefully early Thursday morning, August 21, 2008, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Reliance, South Dakota, November 26, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Fred A. and Verna (Grey) Beers, both school teachers, and had attended college in South Dakota. She was the wife of Air Force Colonial Robert M. Mattison (Retired), who died in 1994. Carol was a well-known local Antique Dealer and collector. Her survivors include two daughters, Mary Lee Mattison, Linda Mattison Dodge and husband Stephen all of Newburyport; three sons, Richard M. Mattison; John D. Mattison and wife, Marian of Groton and James M. Mattison of Andover; 11 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter, Tessa. The Mattison family lived on Janet Road in Chelmsford for 25 years then moved to Newburyport 1984. Carol lived a long, rich life with a loving family and many, many friends. She will be sadly missed. MATTISON Funeral services and interment are private for the family. There will be no visiting hours.
