George Mitchell Obituary

George L. Mitchell, Sr formerly of Lynn and Chelmsford, 58 Goodyear, AZ George L. Mitchell, Sr, 58, passed away on August 30th in Goodyear, AZ. George, formally of Lynn, was born on April 17, 1950, and is the son of Barbara and the late Kenneth Mitchell. George, aka "Mitch", grew up in Lynn, attended Lynn Trade where he learned Carpentry. After high school, he joined the Marine Corp., where he served for three years. After serving his country with honor, he left to pursue his career in carpentry. After moving to Chelmsford, he had two children, George Jr. and Elizabeth, both still of Chelmsford. He became very active in both scouting and town sports with both of his children. He was also an active Mason and Shriner. George was an avid sports fan, with the Red Sox being his favorite team. He was elated to be able to see the Red Sox finally win not one, but two World Series titles. He also enjoyed the Patriots Super Bowl championships and the Celtics championship earlier this year. When he wasn't swinging a hammer, he was probably in the kitchen as cooking and baking was not only a hobby, but a passion. His famous coffee cake was a hit wherever he went. He is survived by five siblings; Charlie and his wife Chaun of Londonderry, NH, Dana and his wife Mary of Arlington, Jane and her husband Bill of Burlington, Donald of Lynn, Scott and his wife Joanne of Lynn, and many nieces and nephews. MITCHELL A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2008 at the Masonic Hall, 7 Concord Road in Billerica, MA from 1-5pm.
