Dorothy C. Dellascio of Wilmington, active in the community; 61 WILMINGTON Mrs. Dorothy C. (Freeman) Dellascio, "Dottie", age 61 of Wilmington, died Friday, September 19, 2008, peacefully at home surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with cancer. Dottie was born on April 10, 1947, in Dorchester, MA, she was the daughter of the late Frederick J. & Dorothy L. (Coleman) Freeman. Dottie grew up in Dorchester, she attended parochial school and graduated from St. Gregory's High School in 1965. She went on to attend Boston Business School, receiving her degree in 1967. Dottie became very involved in the community, she was a member of the Sons of Italy, various Parent Advisory Councils (PAC) at school, she ran School Faires, did lots of volunteer work with the Wildcat Boosters Club, and she could always be seen helping out at various sporting events in Wilmington, so much so that one year Dottie was the recipient of the Wilmington Wildcat "Fan" Award. Dottie loved children, she spent over 16 years running a daycare, she helped to mold many daycare kids into the people that they are today and her daycare families will forever be grateful for her kindness, compassion, and love. Halloween was another favorite of Dottie and her family, they spent many months building their "Haunted Houses", first at their family home and then at Livingston Park in Tewksbury. Dottie and her family spent many hours and lots of hard work creating the haunted houses that they shared with thousands of people in the community and surrounding towns. Dottie was most devoted to her family and friends, she was always someone that you could count on in good times and bad, she was there in a moments notice. She and her husband led by example raising five wonderful children who became caring and giving adults. Dottie was very proud of her family and they will miss her dearly. Dottie was the beloved wife of Alan R. Dellascio, devoted mother of Debbie A. Dellascio of Reading, Alan F. Dellascio of Salem, Sharon M. Wyatt & her husband, Eland of Wakefield, Lisa J. Dear Al and family,

We join you in your sorrow brought on by Dottie's passing but we also find comfort in her legacy. That of a welcoming and loving sister-in-law, and a loving, giving, and caring aunt to our boys. Tears will be shed in her memory, but Dottie gave us so many memories that they will fill our hearts for years to come.

To The Dellascio Family,
I want to extend my deepest sympathy of the loss of you wife, mother and grandmother. All the memories we shared at the dance recitals, the fun time at the hotel doing the hair for Sharon's wedding, and just a few months ago seeing her taking care of Lisa's wedding. God wrapped his arms around her and took her home and she will be with all of you spiritually. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

September 21, 2008

God saw you tired
And a cure was not to be
So he out his arms around you
And whispered "Come to me"
With tearful eyes we watched you
And saw you pass away,
Although we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay
A golden heart stopped beating
Hard working hands at rest
God broke out hearts
To prove he only takes the best.
