Maria L. Areias

Maria L. Areias of Lowell, St. Anthony member; 78 LOWELL Maria L. (Meneses) Areias, 78, of Lowell, died October 18, 2008, at Fairhaven Nursing Home. She was the widow of the late Manuel L. Areias who died in 1991. Born October 12, 1930, in the Azores, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Jose Luis Meneses and the late Maria (de Lourdes Avila) Meneses. She grew up and was educated in that area, coming to the United States in the early 1970's, settling in Lowell in the Back Central Street area. She worked for the former Wang Laboratories, as an assembler, until her retirement, and was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church. Her survivors include her daughter, Betty Cabral and her husband, Thomas, of Lowell; her son, Jorge Manuel Nunes, formerly of Lowell; her granddaughter, Kimberly Kavigian and her husband, Stephen, of Lowell; her sister, Maria Liduina Meneses of the Azores; her best friend, Olga Rombeiro of Dracut; and several nieces and nephews.
