Robert Belanger Obituary

Robert Paul Belanger of N. Chelmsford, Navy vet; 72 N. CHELMSFORD Robert Paul Belanger, 72, a longtime resident of N. Chelmsford, died peacefully Sunday, October 26, 2008, at the Mass. General Hospital in Boston, MA, following a brief battle with cancer. He was the husband of Janet C. (Bourke) Belanger with whom he celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on May 19th. Born in Worcester, MA on Dec. 30, 1935, he was a son of the late William A. and Mary Emma (Dillaire) Belanger. He was raised and educated in Worcester. He graduated from Commerce High School with the Class of 1954. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Hancock and the USS Timmerman. Bob worked many years as a Chef/Food Service Director in the area. Most recently, he was employed by C&L Air Limo of Westford up until his death. He was an avid hunter and loved hunting with friends in Maine. Besides his beloved wife, Janet, he is survived by two sons, Robert P. Belanger Jr. of Lowell, and Jeffrey S. Belanger of Dallas, TX; three daughters and two sons- in-laws, Diane L. and Edwin Waddell of Chelmsford, Susan M. and Michael Flood of Gardner, MA, and Sharon Thomas of Philadelphia, PA; 10 grandchildren, Kelly Belanger, Megan and her husband, Dwayne Thurston, Kristopher Moody and his wife, Allisa, Jason Moody, James and Matthew Waddell, Andrea and her husband, Jose Orellana, Amy Isleib, Krystal and Amber Thomas; seven great-grandchildren, Logan, Emily, Elizabeth, Lilly, Tyler, Emma, and Destiny; a brother and sister-in-law, William A. and Clare Belanger of Worcester, MA; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Joan L. Cayer. BELANGER Robert P. Belanger, 72, of N. Chelmsford, died Oct. 26, 2008. There are no Visiting hours. Funeral Sat., Nov. 1, 2008 from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST., N. CHELMSFORD, MA at 9:00 a.m. with a Funeral Mass at 10:00 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 115 Middlesex St., Chelmsford, MA. Cremation at Merrimack Crematory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the nurses on Phillips House 21st floor. Checks should be made out to Mass. General Hospital with above instructions. You have been like a father for me while I was younger. You have been here through some many parts of my life. We love you so much. We are going to miss you.
