Adeline Cirasella Obituary

Adeline Cirasella of Lowell; 83 Lowell Miss Lena Cirasella, 83, a resident of Lowell for most of her lifetime, died Monday, November 3, 2008, at D'Youville Senior Health Care Center after a long illness. Born May 15, 1925, in North Chelmsford, she was the daughter of the late Vito and the late Nicolina (DiPrenda) Cirasella who were both natives of Italy. She attended St. Peter's Grammar School and Lowell High School, Miss Cirasella was a member of the former Notre Dame deLourdes Church, where she was a member of the Sodality and the League of Catholic Women. More recently she was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church. She was also an active member of the Poor Clares Guild, the Third Order of St. Francis, the Italian American Cultural Club, and an active supporter of R.A.R.A., the Retarded Adult Rehabilitation Association. She had been employed by the City of Lowell as a custodian at Lowell High School, retiring in 1991. Lena will be remembered for the artistic and delicious mounds of cookies that she made for everyone for every occasion. A self-taught Wedding Cake designer and decorator, she contributed many cakes to family and friends' special occasions. She was very close to her family and treated her many nieces and nephews as if they were her own children. She is survived by two sisters, Michaelina Lumenello and her husband, Vincent, of Lowell and Emma Fried of Lowell; many nieces and nephews and many friends. She was also a sister of the late Anthony Cirasella, the late Cathleen Perrault, the late Josephine Ouellette, the late Rita Lecuyer and the late Mary Greco. CISARELLA You are invited to Her Calling Hours 2 until 7 pm on Thursday. On Friday, Her Funeral will begin at 10:30 am at the MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 Highland St, Lowell (978 or 800) 458-6816. Her Funeral Mass will be offered at ST. MARGARET'S CHURCH at 11:30 am. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorials can be made in her name to Retired Adult Rehabilitation Association, 295 High St, Lowell, MA 01852 or to D'Youville Senior Care Center, 981 Varnum Ave, Lowell, MA 01854.
