Alfred DuHamel Obituary

Alfred H. DuHamel of Lowell, Prince Grotto retiree; 78 LOWELL Alfred H. "Harry" DuHamel, 78, a lifelong Lowell resident, died Thursday, November 6, 2008, at Life Care Center of the Merrimack Valley. Born January 24, 1930, in Lowell, he was son of Esther (Donnelly) Cummings and her husband, Phil Cummings, and was educated in the local schools, attending St. Peter's Grammar School. "Harry" as he was affectionatey known throughout most his lifetime, worked in the area Mills before working at the former location of the Lowell Lodge Elks in Downtown Lowell. Prior to his retirement, he worked in the kitchen of the former Prince Grotto. An avid walker, he did errands for elderly neighbors and friends when he was walking downtown. He is survived by a brother, Norman F. DuHamel of Tewksbury; an aunt, Emma Powers of Marshfield; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. DuHAMEL YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS 2 UNTIL 6 P.M. ON SUNDAY. ON MONDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 10 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL (978 OR 800) 458-6816.
