Josephine Kroon Obituary

Josephine E. Kroon of Lowell, St. John member; 88 LOWELL Josephine E. (West) Kroon, 88, a resident of the Centralville section of Lowell, died peacefully on Tuesday morning, November 11, 2008 with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Hendrik "Dutch" Kroon. Born in Lowell on August 1, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Edith (Thomas) West, originally from England. Mrs. Kroon was married to her husband Hendrik, a Navy man who survived the attack on Pearl Harbor aboard the USS Allen. She suffered through a two week period following the Japanese attack not knowing whether or not he had survived. Mrs. Kroon will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and outstanding devotion to family and friends, her love of animals and most importantly, her love of children. She enjoyed caring for and spending time nurturing her close knit extended family and friends. She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a longtime member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Lowell. Mrs. Kroon is survived by her daughter and a son-in-law, Arlene S. and William B. Browning Jr. of Lowell; a grandson and his wife, William B. Browning III and Talya Bosch; two great-grandchildren, Cassidy and Harmony Jade Browning; two sisters, Alice Dinwiddie of Springfield, VA and Eileen McMenimen of Lowell; two sisters-in-law, Aileen West of Lowell and Avis Kroon of Concord; God daughter, Diana Del Rossi; many, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews, among whom are Joan and David Del Rossi, Brian, Stephan and Gary McMenimen, Michael Dinwiddie, Shirley Pierce, Deborah Leroux, Ray-Harvey West, Steven, Thomas and John Duvall, Andrea West, Earnest and David Pouche. She was a sister of the late Earl Raymond West, John "Buddy" West and Albert "Red" West, and Grace Duvall. Sadly, she will be missed by all. KROON Josephine E. (West), age 88. It being her request, there will be no calling hours. Her Funeral Service will be celebrated on Thursday at 12:00 PM (Noon) in St. John's Episcopal Church, 260 Gorham Street, Lowell. Burial in the Westlawn Cemetery.
