Gay Mersereau Cohen

Gay Cohen Obituary

Gay Mersereau Cohen formerly of Chelmsford; 56 MANCHESTER, CT Gay Mersereau Cohen, 56, from Chelmsford MA, died unexpectedly Sunday morning, Nov. 9, 2008, in her own home in Connecticut. She was the beloved wife of Raymond John Cohen, and mother of Christine. Born in Boston on Nov. 1, 1952, she was the oldest daughter of Barbara Soper Mersereau and Raymond Thomas Mersereau. She was raised in Chelmsford with her 3 sisters, Anne, Robin, and Lee. She was the fun and funny aunt to Ari, Eric, Jessie, and Leeanne. Gay was a delightfully colorful personality- marvelous cook, lover of cats and birds (she had 5 cats and who knows how many strays and she fed every bird that flew by), green thumb gardener, occultist, and creative homemaker. Her home was decorated lavishly throughout the seasons, and was a wonderful and fun-loving person to be with. Gay especially enjoyed volunteering during the holidays, making up food boxes and distributing toys to families in need. She is remembered especially for her indefatigable humor, hysterical emails, passion for the Red Sox, sympathetic heart, birthday cards overflowing with confetti, and her reports from the psychic world. Her sisters will miss the sound of her voice at the other end of daily phone calls. COHEN Gay would love donations made to the Special Olympics honoring Jessie, and to the Veterans of Foreign Wars or USO saluting her dad. Funeral Graveside service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 10:30 am in Ridgelawn Cemetery in Watertown (Corners of Stuart St & Highland Avenue off Main Street. Route 20) For more info call Nardone Funeral Home, 373 Main St., Watertown, MA (617) 924-1113.
