Anne M. Monahan

Anne M. Monahan of Nashua, avid golfer and bridge player; 85 NASHUA, NH Anne M. (McCarthy) Monahan, 85, of Nashua, died at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, on Wednesday, November 12, 2008. Mrs. Monahan was born on Dec. 12, 1922, in Belmont, MA, a daughter of the late Honorable William T. McCarthy and Nellie S. (Sullivan) McCarthy. She was a resident of Nashua prior to which she had lived in Belmont, Winchester, and Hyannis, MA, as well as Punta Gorda, FL. She was the widow of Joseph Monahan, Jr., whom she married in 1942. Mrs. Monahan was a graduate on Belmont High School in Belmont, MA. She was an avid golf player and bridge player. A longtime member of the Women's Golf Association of Massachusetts, and the Vesper Country Club Bridge Club, she was a former member of Winchester Country Club in Winchester, MA, Indian Ridge Country Club in Andover, MA, Whip-Poor-Will Golf Club in Hudson, NH, Punta Gorda Country Club in Punta Gorda, FL, Cummaquid Country Club in Hyannis, MA, and Vesper Country Club in Tyngsborough, MA. Mrs. Monahan was a communicant of St. Christopher Parish in Nashua, NH. She was predeceased by a daughter, Paula V. Monahan; a daughter-in-law, Joanne Hill Monahan, three sisters, Kathryn Chisolm, Marian McCafferty, and Ellen Toner, and a brother, John McCarthy. Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Joseph W. Monahan III, Esq. of Winchester, MA, and Thomas F. and Jill Monahan of Nashua, NH; her daughters and sons-in-law, Anne Marie and Jack Daniels of Nashua, Ellen and George Trojan of Lee, NH, and Alice E. Monahan of Lowell, MA; 13 grandchildren, Jay Monahan, Brendan Monahan, Justin Monahan, Julie Maffei, Kay Mulcahy, Meghan Granger, George Trojan, Jr., Brian Trojan, Amanda Trojan, Matthew Trojan, Jamie Monahan, Jeffrey Monahan, and Kelly Monahan; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. MONAHAN Visiting Hours will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2008 from 4:00 8:00 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home, One Lock St., Nashua, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 17, 2008 at ten o'clock AM at St. Christopher Parish, 62 Manchester St., Nashua, NH. Following the Mass, Interment Prayers and Burial will take place in Belmont, Cemetery, 121 Grove St., in Belmont, MA at 12:30 p.m. The family will be a gathering after Interment at 1:15 p.m. at the Winchester Country Club, 468 Mystic St., Winchester, MA, all are invited to join them.
