Constance English Obituary

Constance English accomplished artist, avid gardener; 84 Westford Constance (Whitcomb) English, 84, of Westford died on November 14, at Woodbriar Nursing Home in Wilmington. She was born in Melrose on September 4, 1924 daughter of the late Elwood and Constance (Bevan) Whitcomb and was the wife of the late Lewis O. English who died in 1996. She grew up in Melrose and was a graduate of Melrose High School. She then attended Massachusetts College of Art. Mrs. English was married in 1943 and lived in Brooklyn, N.Y and Melrose and then made her home in Westford since 1964. She was an accomplished artist using watercolors and silk screening where she made Christmas and note cards. Connie was commissioned to paint a mural for the Westminster Cracker Company. She was an avid gardener and a member of the Westford Garden Club. She was also a member of the Westford Historical Society and at one time had been the Curator for the Westford Museum. In Connie's younger years, she attended many Dartmouth football games and enjoyed skiing at Crotched Mountain. Her survivors include a son Harold A. English of Westford; a daughter Betsy Sheffield Hodge of West Haven CT; and six grandchildren. ENGLISH A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. See www.badgerfuneral.com
