Alice Marchand Obituary

Alice B. Marchand lifelong resident of Lowell; 87 Lowell Alice B. (Makos) Marchand, age 87, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died unexpectedly on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at her home in Lowell. She was the wife of the late Romeo J. Marchand. Born in Dracut on February 10, 1921, the daughter of the late John and Blanche (Cote) Makos, she attended St. Joseph Grammar School and St. Louis Academy High School. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a dietary aide with the former St. Joseph Hospital and D'Youville Manor for several years. Alice enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, gardening, playing cards and cribbage. She is survived by a daughter, Gertrude "Trudy" Spanos of Lincoln, NH; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Carol Marchand of Lowell; a daughter-in-law, Barbara (Rafferty) Marchand of Dracut; seven grandchildren, Robert, Christopher and Jennifer Marchand, Crissy, George and James Spanos and Lisa (Spanos) Blanchette; four great grandchildren, Dimitri and Nicholas Spanos and Andrew and Thomas Marchand; also many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Paul. J. Marchand, mother-in-law of the late James P. Spanos and sister of the late George, Anthony, John and Cecile Makos and Rose Dupuis. MARCHAND Relatives and friends may call at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Wednesday, November 19 from 6 to 8pm. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Rita Church. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery.
