Mary A. "Min" Folkins

Mary A. 'Min' Folkins longtime resident of Groton; 80 GROTON Mary A. "Min" (O'Brien) Folkins, 80, a longtime resident of Rhodenda Road, died Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at the Health Alliance Leominster Hospital, after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Harmon Folkins who died in 1966. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Harmon C. and Eileen Folkins of Houlton, Maine; a daughter and son-in-law, Rita A. and Fred Woods Jr. of Shirley; a sister, Evelyn Dugay of St. John, NB Canada; five grandchildren, Danielle Celona, Douglas Woods, Elisha Folkins, Ashley Folkins, and Harmon Folkins. She also leaves three great-grandchildren, Nathan Folkins, Cade Celona, and Tyler Woods. She was the mother of the late Douglas Folkins and Mary Alice Folkins who both died in 1958, and the sister of the late Joseph O'Brien of Canada, and Edward O'Brien of Maine. Mrs. Folkins was born in New Brunswick, Canada, June 13, 1928, a daughter of Charles and Mary (Doyle) O'Brien, and resided much of her life in Groton before later moving to Shirley, and most recently to her granddaughter's home in Gardner. She had been a faithful communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Groton, St. Casmir's Church in Maynard and most recently St. Anthony's Church in Shirley. Most recently, Mrs. Folkins had worked as a receptionist at Concord Family Services, Concord, Massachusetts. She had also worked in the area as a Home Health Aide, and many years ago as an office assistant for Dr. Cyrus Cominos in Groton. FOLKINS A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 am Monday, December 1, 2008 at St. Anthony's Church, 14 Phoenix St., Shirley. Burial will be in Groton Cemetery.
