George Lowe Obituary

George E. Lowe lived in Dracut and Lowell, WWII vet; 87 ANDOVER George E. Lowe, 87, of Andover, but for many years a resident of Dracut and Lowell, died Saturday evening, November 29, 2008, at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen. He was the husband of Rose E. (George) Lowe, they celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary earlier this year. Born in Lowell, December 2, 1920, the son of the late George and the late Elizabeth (Whalen) Lowe. He attended Lowell Schools, and also received a certification in electronics and television service from a Technical Institute in Chicago. He was a US Army veteran of World War II. He served in North Africa and in Italy, and then in the invasion at Normandy, where he was awarded the Bronze Star. In addition, he received the North African, Middle Eastern Medal, the World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, and a member of a group of World War II veterans that met at the VA Clinic in Lowell. Before retiring, Mr. Lowe was the owner of George Lowe Painting Contractors. He loved playing cards, particularly "forty-fives", and he also enjoyed sun bathing. Besides his wife, Mr. Lowe is survived by four daughters, Deborah A. Koravos and her husband, Daniel; and her twin sister, Denise M. McCrady and her husband, Donald all of Hudson, NH, Leslie A. Burgess and her husband, William of Hope, ME, and Robin Lemons and her husband, Robert of Andover; nine grandchildren, Jamie E. Pascoe and his wife, Cheryl, Jeff E. Pascoe and his wife, Julie, Eric G. Gaska, Christopher G. Gaska, Tara Rose McCrady, William G. Burgess, Jr. and his wife, Michelle, George W. Burgess, Robert K. Lemons, Jr., and Katherine R. Lemons; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Helen Finnegan of Londonderry, NH, Phyllis Bujnowski of Hudson, NH, and Lorraine Gaffny and her husband, Edward of Hampton Falls, NH; three brothers, William Lowe of Alexandria, VA, Carl Lowe of Port Charlotte, FL, and Raymond Lowe and his wife, Lorraine of Lowell; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Warren Lowe. LOWE In Methuen, Nov. 29, 2008, at Holy Family, George E. Lowe, 87, of Andover, husband of Rose E. (George) Lowe. Friends may call at the O'DONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 3 to 7 P.M. Tuesday. His funeral will take place from the funeral home Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock followed by Funeral Services at ST. GEORGE ANTIOCHIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH at 11 o'clock. Burial in the Westlawn Cemetery.
