Lorraine Chaplin Obituary

Lorraine T. Chaplin of Townsend, nurse, St. John member; 77 TOWNSEND Lorraine T. (Smith) Chaplin, 77, of Townsend, died unexpectedly Friday, August 24th, 2007, at Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer. She was the wife of Thomas E. Chaplin Jr., to whom she was married for 54 years. Mrs. Chaplin was born in Pawtucket, R.I., Sept. 15, 1929, a daughter of the late Aldermard and Louisa Smith. She was a graduate of the Sacred Heart High School in Pawtucket, R.I., and the Ring Sanitarium School of Nursing in Arlington. She resided in Townsend for more than 35 years. Mrs. Chaplin worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Apple Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Ayer, before retiring in 1991. Prior to that, she worked at the former Hale Nursing Home in West Groton, and the Ring Sanitarium in Arlington. She was a communicant of St. John's Church in Townsend. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kenneth R. and Amy Chaplin of Townsend, Thomas E. Chaplin III of Nashua, N.H., six daughters and four sons-in-law; Lou Anne and Carl Cellana of Jackson, N.H., Kathleen and Steven Bourn, Sheila T. and Michael Bollinger, all of Townsend, Susan E. and Paul Vaillancourt of Fitchburg, Arlene P. Chaplin of Sandwich, and Karen L. Oetinger of Ashby, two sisters; Ida Walters and Marianne Langellier, both of Pawtucket, R.I. She leaves 21 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Katherine, Jessica, Kristen, Erika, Alyssa, Lisa, Nicholette, John, Jonathan, Lesley, Colleen, Jonas, Liana, Derek, Lynsey, Julie, Joseph, Emiley, Craig and Dan. She also leaves 10 great-grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late Delores Boissee of South Attleboro. CHAPLIN Lorraine T. (Smith), 77, Aug. 24. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 28th at St. John's Church, 1 School St., Townsend. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours are 4-7 p.m. Monday at the T.J. I didn't know her very well, but my mother, Muriel Rossi, worked with her at Hales and Apple Valley. She was a great friend to my mom. My mom passed away 15 years ago, and Lorraine was there for my family. I also graduated high school with Kenny. My thoughts are with you all.
