James McCarron Obituary

James B. McCarron formerly of Billerica, WWII veteran; 80 LITCHFIELD, N.H. James B. McCarron, 80, beloved husband to Julia K. McCarron (McCarthy), of Litchfield, N.H., died Saturday, August 25, 2007. He was born in Brewer, Maine, Dec. 1, 1926, son of the late Timothy R. and Mary E. McCarron (Long). He graduated from John Bapst High School, Bangor Maine, in 1947 where he was active in all sports. He married Julia K. McCarthy on November 15, 1947. Mr. McCarron entered the U.S. Army in 1944, was a veteran of World War II, and served in Austria. He graduated from Mantor Hall Preparatory School in Cambridge, Mass., and Wentworth Institute in 1952. Mr. McCarron retired in 1992 from Silent Watchman and National Guardian, as regional general manager for many years. While residing in Billerica, Mass., for 40 years, he was active as a Little League coach and officer, Pop Warner football coach, and a member of the Billerica Knights of Columbus, and the Irish American Club. In his youth, he was an avid baseball, basketball and football player. Mr. McCarron was a lifetime fan of the Boston Red Sox and was rewarded for his loyalty in 2004. He was also a longtime fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Celtics. His greatest past times were jogging, gardening and carpentry. Mr. McCarron was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Litchfield. Besides his wife, Julia of 59 years, he is survived by his children Mary Ellen McCarron, Michael McCarron and his wife, Vicki, Julie MacIntosh and her husband, Edwin, and Brian McCarron and his wife, Gail; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. McCARRON Friends may call on Tuesday, August 28th from 7 9 p.m. in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m., in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Rte. 3A, Litchfield. The burial will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Gilcreast Road, Londonderry. Memorial donations may be made in his name to: Souhegan Home & Hospice Care, 24 North River Rd., Milford, NH 03055.

McCarron family:
I am truly sorry for your loss. I had a great deal of respect for Jim and also owe him my gratitude. I appreciate the three years I played for him in Billerica Senior League, particularly the third year when he stayed on as our coach even though Brian had moved on. I coach my son's little league team, not only because it allows me to influence him, but it also allows me to have a positive impact on other kids, just as Jim did.

Jim - Thank you for giving up your time, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
