Electra Vlahos Hamond
of Marblehead, born in Lowell; 87
MARBLEHEAD Electra "Becky" Vlahos Hamond, age 87, wife of the late W. Robert Hamond with whom she had shared 40 years of marriage, died Sunday
afternoon in the Harborsie Twin Oaks Nursing Home, in Danvers.
Born in Lowell, the daughter of the late John and Vasilike (Goveastas) Vlahos, she was raised and educated in Lowell Schools. Mrs. Hamond then received her Bachelors Degree from the Massachusetts College of Art and became a graphic artist in the marketing and advertising firm of Hoag and Sprague in Boston for over 30 years. Mrs. Hamond worked on many projects and especially enjoyed the design work she did for Sperry Topsider.
Art was not just her career it was her passion and avocation. When not working she could be found enjoying artistic projects around her home including all types of painting although she especially enjoyed watercolors. One of her special projects was to assist in the creation of the Hamond Crest from descriptive research. She was also an avid gardener and was a frequent visitor to the J.C.C. where she participated in many programs.
She is survived by Roy and Karen Hamond of
Newbury and their children, Jeremy and wife, Tara Hamond of Tewksbury, Jason Hamond of Belchertown, and Jillian and Jennifer Hamond both of Newbury; three
sisters, Hope Vlahos of Marblehead, Annastasia Chiungos of Chelmsford, and Diana Markessinis of
Delaware; and her daughter Joan Markessinis PhD and her husband, Ret. Col. Kenneth Lucas of Arlington, VA.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral on Saturday, October 20, at 10 A.M in the Arland Dirlam Chapel in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead to be followed by graveside services. Services will be led by her cousin, Father John Govostes of the Greek Orthodox Church Hall of Ipswich. A collation will follow in the Marblehead Community Center, Humphrey St., Marblehead.
