Francis Bindas Obituary

Francis J. 'Frank' Bindas of Chelmsford, Korean War vet; 74 CHELMSFORD Francis J. 'Frank' Bindas, 74, of Chelmsford, died October 23, at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Edith (Picanso) Bindas, with whom he celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary this past June 1st. He was born in Lowell, July 2, 1933, a son of the late Walenty Bindas and the late Agatha (Szybowska) Bindas. He attended St. Stanislaus Grammar School, and graduated from Lowell High School, Class of 1951. He went on to attain his Associate's Degree in Business from Merrimack College. Mr. Bindas served with the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a Life Member of the Knights of Columbus as a Fourth Degree Knight, and was also a Past Grand Knight. He was also a Life Member of the Chelmsford Lodge of Elks. Frank grew up in the Acre Section of the City, and was a longtime communicant of St. Margaret's Church. A devoted family man, he enjoyed spending time with family, and especially enjoyed his three grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered by his many relatives and friends for his wonderful sense of humor and his ability to tell captivating stories. He also cherished the family dog, Bruno. He worked for the Massachusetts Electric Company for 42 years, prior to his retirement. In addition to his wife, Edith, he is survived by a daughter, Suzanne Lewis and her husband, Dr. William Lewis, of Westford; his grandchildren, William J. Lewis III, Matthew A. Lewis, and Jeffrey F. Lewis, all of Westford; a sister, Jane A. Connerton and her husband, Christopher, of Lowell; brothers-in-law, Eugene Picanso of New York, and Jack Picanso of Lowell, a sister-in-law, Minnie Bindas of Berlin, NH; as well as many nieces and nephews; and many, many, friends. He was also the brother of the late John, Joseph, Stanley, Walter, and Stephanie Bindas. YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON FRIDAY.
